Top 10 Tips For Getting In Shape

Follow these 10 proven tips for getting in shape, and you'll have success!

1. Commit to get fit. When it comes to good health, exercise is not an option.

2. Choose activities you enjoy. The best exercise in the world is the one you’ll do! By choosing activities you enjoy, you’ll be much more likely to stick with it.

3. Be Consistent. No exercise program in the world will work if you don’t do it on a consistent basis. Commit for at least one month- studies show that’s how long it takes to establish a habit.

4. Schedule in exercise. “Those who fail to plan, plan to fail.” Plan your weekly exercise workouts just as you would any other important meeting or appointment. Keeping track of your progress in a journal is a proven way to help you stay motivated.

5. Set goals. Start small, and make sure they are attainable. A goal to lose 20 pounds in a month is most likely not going to happen. Small victories will give you a sense of accomplishment and motivation to stay the course. Reward yourself for a job well done.

6. Use the buddy system. Find a friend or relative with similar goals for company, encouragement, and accountability. “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up.” Ecclesiastes 4:9

7. Hire a fitness trainer. A few sessions with a personal trainer or fitness coach can help you get on an effective fitness program based on your goals, interests, and lifestyle- and provide support and accountability to help you get on track.

8. Make Exercise Convenient. It doesn’t take fancy equipment or a gym membership to get in shape. Choose times and places that are easy to fit into your life.

9. Ditch the fad diet. For the majority of us, fad diets don’t work because they are based on deprivation. Instead of focusing on what you shouldn’t eat, focus on what healthy foods you need to add to your diet. Eat more living food manufactured by God, and less manufactured in plants.

10. Be patient. Rome wasn’t built in a day. There will be ups and downs, setbacks and victories. Hang in there, and you will see results!
